OUR SCHOOL
A message from the Head of School and CEO
Welcome to Gray Academy of Jewish Education.
From its historic beginnings in 1902, Gray Academy of Jewish Education has grown to become the largest independent Jewish day school in Western Canada. Situated on 15 acres in the heart of Winnipeg’s Jewish community, Gray Academy is aesthetically enriched by nearby community parkland and Winnipeg’s river system.
Our co-ed student body, ranging from Junior Kindergarten through Grade 12, have chosen to attend Gray Academy because of the unique qualities of a dual track Judaic and General Studies curricula that provide our graduates two recognized diplomas. Our website will provide you with a strong sense of our community, our family and our way of life. You will see the range of activities, the quality of education, the superior staff and the depth of programming that has resulted in a national accreditation by the Canadian Accredited Independent Schools (CAIS).
Our staff work toward nurturing the whole child by developing self-esteem, leadership, academic excellence and independence. Every day, our staff provide a secure and supportive learning environment where students are challenged to become caring and responsible people who will lead full and productive lives.
Our Judaic Studies program couples traditional religious study with history and a value based education. Our students are exposed to modern ethical dilemmas, historical perspectives and world religions. Our graduates are informed and educated Jewish men and women comfortable with all of the various expressions of Jewish life.
Our Advanced Placement program is balanced with strong music, performing arts, art, debating, technology, language and physical education programs. Our students participate in community service and character building life experiences locally and abroad.
I invite you to visit our school to truly appreciate the unique experience of Gray Academy for yourself. It is definitely worth the visit.
I welcome the opportunity to show you why I am proud to be a member of our community, our family, our way of life.
