JUDAIC STUDIES

In addition to the Manitoba Education provincial diploma for General Studies, our students also graduate with a Gray Academy diploma for Judaic Studies. Our Judaic curricula are devoted to getting to the roots of our roots. Understanding who we are leads each child into the vitality and vibrancy of the Judaic Studies program.

Study progressively builds upon itself, reinforcing the themes of Israel, Hebrew Language, Tanach & Talmud, Prayer & Spirituality, and Jewish Living from Junior Kindergarten to grade 12. In effect, it is a journey back to our future.

Junior Kindergarten

We like learning to be fun. In their first year, students are introduced to the various Judaics themes through song, dance, and drama to create an exciting learning environment.

Kindergarten

As students build their comfort level in a classroom setting, the arts continue to influence teaching, while daily rituals and routines introduce students to Judaic themes. The classroom environment emphasizes learning through fun and creativity.

Grade 1

As students advance through the early years, they continue being exposed to the various Judaics themes through integration into their daily rituals and routines.

Grade 2

At this level, students continue to enjoy more tactical and formalized learning, and gain additional exposure to the various Judaics themes through integration into their daily rituals and routines.

Grade 3

At this level, students continue to enjoy more tactical and formalized learning, and gain additional exposure to the various Judaics themes through integration into their daily rituals and routines.

Grade 4

Students enjoy tactical and formalized learning, and gain additional exposure to the various Judaics themes through integration into their daily rituals and routines. They are able to delve deeper into more meaningful conversations and ideas.

Grade 5

In their later elementary years, students are able to look at bigger-picture issues and topics and engage in dialogue on a more mature level.

Grade 6

As students really begin to dig deep into bigger-picture issues and topics and engage in dialogue on a more mature level, collaboration and class discussions become an integral part of our classroom dynamic.

Grades 7 to 12

By the time our students move on from elementary, they have a solid foundation for understanding their Jewish roots. The senior high years are an opportunity for them to build upon this foundation, and explore their faith for themselves.
