Code of Sportsmanship

The Golden Rule in sport is to treat other persons as you would like to be treated.  At all matches and contests between schools, the following code will be upheld:
  1. The rules of the game must be regarded as mutual agreements, the spirit or letter of which no one should try to evade or break.
  2. No advantages are to be sought over others, except the advantage of superior skill.
  3. Officials and opponents must be regarded and treated as honest in intention.
  4. Decisions of officials must be accepted absolutely by players and coaches.
  5. Visiting teams and spectators are honoured guests, and should be treated as such.  They should also behave as such.
  6. To win is always desirable; but to win at any cost utterly defeats the purpose the game.
  7. Every team must learn that losing can be a triumph when their best has been given.
  8. Coaches, players or spectators who do not fully support this code have no place in our representative matches.

Go Raiders Go! Sports Update
June 2009

The 2009 soccer season for the Gray Academy girls’ and boys’ teams ended last week. The girls finished with a 1-3 record. The boys tied for second in their pool with LCS. Due to scheduling difficulties and uncooperative weather conditions, a tie-breaker could not be played. Linden Christian was awarded the playoff spot based on a more favourable point for and against differential.

Track and Field athletes will have their chance to strut their stuff against Zone 12 competition on Monday, May 25th at the U. of M. Pan Am Stadium. Our athletes have an opportunity to qualify for the MHSAA Provincial Track Championships which take place on June 5th and 6th.

The MHSAA Badminton Provincial Championships were held on May 1st and 2nd at Maples Collegiate. Gray Academy was represented by a doubles team in both the girls’ and boys’ draws. While neither team placed in the top 3, the boys registered 2 wins in 7 games. Both teams competed well and benefited from this experience.
