As a Jewish community day school, we feel it's important to create a variety of opportunities to come together in a faith-based setting to learn and grow in our Jewish identities. Students are invited to get involved in a number of religious celebrations, activities, and clubs either at a planning level or by enjoying the company of their peers as an attendee.
This four-day retreat focuses on Jewish awareness through the lens of a teenager, and encompasses a Shabbat experience in an outdoor setting. Students participate in workshops, enjoy a talent show and a variety of winter activities. This is one of the biggest highlights that students take away from their Gray Academy experience. The Retreat is run by college students from New York and is a chance for students in different grades to get to know each other.

Every week, sets of T’fillin (phylacteries) and borekas arrive at our school. Under the friendly guidance of Rabbi Boruch from Chabad-Lubavitch of Winnipeg, our students learn how to put on T’fillin, ask the rabbi questions, and enjoy a hearty lunch.

Every year, students enjoy a fun and meaningful Jewish experience together over Shabbat. In both the Gr. 6 Shabbaton and the Gr. 8 & 9 Spirit Weekend Shabbaton, students share in Shabbat together, while enjoying many fun activities, singing and group discussions.
