Grades 2 & 3

Building on their JK to grade 1 experiences, a variety of subjects in grades 2 and 3 give students the opportunity to share ideas, take risks, plan, organize, problem-solve and work collaboratively. They also examine changes as they affect themselves and their environments, and are introduced to scientific inquiry.

Over time, the focus shifts to acquiring language and literacy skills, preparing students to rely on their own thinking and problem-solving skills, and increasing learning awareness through research, communication, the use of technology and cooperative learning.
